The Livingston Community Trust was formed in the spring of 1986, organized by a small group of Park County residents and endowed initially by a donation from the Burlington Northern Foundation and the Burlington Northern Railroad.

It is a private, non-profit corporation managed by a nine-member board of trustees, all of whom are full-time residents of Park County, Montana. The trustees meet, as business requires, to conduct the business of the Community Trust - primarily the funding of local projects worthy of community support.

To date the original principal remains intact, as project grants have not exceeded interest earned.
